International Event Coordinator Network (IECN) Service

The IECN provides free advice and guidance on visa requirements. The network facilitates visa application processing of international travellers invited or registered to speak at, perform in, compete in, or attend an event in Australia.

The IECN has coordinators available throughout Australia and can provide assistance with events such as:

  • academic conferences and seminars
  • agricultural and economic forums
  • business forums and meetings
  • cultural events
  • dental and medical conventions
  • IT exhibitions
  • sporting tournaments
  • training courses of less than 3 months.

The IECN provides the following services:

  • assists in identifing the most appropriate visa
  • explains visa requirements and processing timeframes
  • notifies the department’s overseas offices of:
    • an expected event, conference or meeting
    • invited or registered international visitors
  • provides assistance to resolve issues involved in the visa application process
  • provides bid support letters.

Note: The IECN cannot assist you with personal events such as attending a graduation or wedding ceremony. If your travel to Australia is for these purposes, refer to information for visitor visas.
