This festival is the oldest annual international multi-arts festival in the southern hemisphere and is Western Australia's premier cultural event. Other events on the program include the Contemporary Culture program and the Perth Visual Arts Festival.

This is a solemn Christian remembrance of the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Hot cross buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday, the cross on top of the buns symbolising Christ.
